Beautiful Cedar Patio Furniture Makes My House, My Home

After a hard days work, there is absolutely nothing more refreshing and rejuvenating for me than to be able to sit outside, relax and just enjoy the world around me.  My cedar outdoor furniture simply calls to me and invites me to a world of peaceful surroundings!

If you are remodeling your patio or just adding a new one to your home, it’s a good excuse to look at the patio furniture and decorations. There are so many different types of outdoor furniture, but this article is only dedicated to my favorite: the cedar patio furniture.

My favorite place to sit, think, relax and allow my body and mind to just rest, is on my cedar swing that my husband gave me 15 years ago. It was one of my first gifts when we moved into our new home. I had one in our last home, but the new owners made it part of the contract to sell the house, so I had no choice but to leave it. That was really hard for me. It was my refuge. My husband promised me a new one and he immediately honored his promise when we moved into our new house.

I love the natural smell of cedar! Plus, it is extremely strong and durable. My swing has survived lots of bad weather, high winds and even a tornado. The yard fence was torn down, but the swing set there sturdy and inviting like a mighty sentinel waiting to help absorb the stress of my day.

The featured swing is like my cedar swing. My old friend who patiently waits for me to come and sit for a while.

There is actually room for 3 on my swing. I made the mistake of telling the pups that once. They had to prove there was actually room for 4:   Two adults and 2 dogs.

Cedar swings are available in many sizes and styles. If I ever buy a house with a wrap around porch, that porch would definitely be sporting several swings.

I also have a cedar bench. This bench has been with me for nearly 25 years. It is very easy to move for home to home, or just around the backyard.

We rearrange our outdoor furniture periodically, and this bench has been in several locations over the years, but regardless of where it is sitting, it draws attention. I think just about every guest we have ever had stay in our home, has said they wanted to take that bench home with them. Ugh, you can see, I have never let it go.

I took this photo above in early spring, just before the Japanese Maple started budding.

It isn’t easy to find the cedar slat benches with cast iron sides any more.  Most of these styles are outsourced and are made with plastic or resin slats.  But the most important thing about my bench it the way the seat curves.  The cedar bench below offers that same curving back support.
